College football’s top kicking award, the Palm Beach County Sports Commission Lou Groza Collegiate Place-Kicker Award presented by the Orange Bowl recognizes three top kickers each week from FBS division teams as the “Stars of the Week.”

Oklahoma junior Gabe Brkic is the FBS leader in field goals made after kicking three in the Sooners’ victory over Kansas State in Big 12 action on the road in Manhattan, Kan. on Saturday.  The Chardon, Ohio native connected from 47, 40 and 27 yards out to earn his third Star of the Week selection of the season. The 40- and 47-yarders were his 16th and 17th career makes from at least 40 yards, extending his own program record. He is now 11-for-13 on field goals this season. Brkic made all four of his extra point tries to extend his season mark to a perfect 18-for-18 and his career total to 120-for-120. His 51 points lead all Sooner scorers and are tied for second in the nation among kickers.

Cameron Dicker established a new career high by kicking four field goals in a close 32-27 Texas victory over TCU on the road in Fort Worth, Texas on Saturday. The senior from Austin, Texas had a pair of kicks from 38 yards to go with makes from 28 and 26 yards out. The four field goals are still one shy of the Longhorns’ single-game record. He made two extra point tries to extend his streak of successful PATs to 45, dating back to last season. His mark this year stands at 25-for-25. He is second in scoring among the Longhorns with 40 points.

B.T. Potter scored 13 points in Clemson’s 19-13 defeat of Boston College in ACC action on Homecoming Saturday in Clemson, S.C. The senior from Rock Hill, S.C. connected on field goals 42, 40, 35 and 18 yards and made his lone extra point try. Potter improved to 5-for-6 on field goals, having just two previous attempts this season. He has made all 13 of his PATs on the season, for a total of 28 points. He totaled 233 points in the previous two seasons, the second highest total among kickers over that span.

The Award is named for National Football League Hall of Fame kicker Lou “The Toe” Groza, who played 21 seasons with the Cleveland Browns. Groza won four NFL championships with Cleveland and was named NFL Player of the Year in 1954. Although an All-Pro offensive lineman as well, Groza ushered in the notion that there should be a place on an NFL roster for a kicker.
