College football’s top kicking award, the Palm Beach County Sports Commission Lou Groza Collegiate Place-Kicker Award presented by the Orange Bowl recognizes three of the top kickers each week from FBS division teams as the “Stars of the Week.”

Kicker Ammon Lakip provided most of the offense for Clemson in the Tigers’ 16-6 defeat of Syracuse in Clemson on Saturday. The junior from Johns Creek, Ga. made field goals of 41, 38, and 18 yards and made the extra point following the Tigers only touchdown of the game to score 10 points on the day. Lakip has made 9 straight field goals. He is 15 of 19 on field goals for the season, which places him sixth in the nation in field goals made. This was his third three field goal game of the year. Lakip is perfect after 26 PAT tries and his 71 points lead the team in scoring and are in the top ten nationally among kickers.

Kansas State freshman Matthew McCrane has only attempted six field goals so far this season, but he’s made them all, and for the first time in his brief career he has made three in a game. His field goals of 38, 30 and 19 yards helped the Wildcats to a 23-0 defeat of Texas in Manhattan on Saturday to improve their Big 12 record to 4-0. It was a landmark win for the program, their 500th all-time, and the first time McCrane booted multiple field goals in one game. The Brownwood, Texas native added two extra points and is also a perfect 20 of 20 in that category.  He is one of eight in the nation with at least six field goals and no misses of any kind this season.

There was plenty of scoring in TCU’s 82-27 rout of Texas Tech in Fort Worth on Saturday, with a near-record amount of them coming from kicker Jaden Oberkrom. The junior from Arlington, Texas went 4-for-4 on field goals and 10-for-10 on extra points to score 22 of the Horned Frogs’ program record 82 points. The field goals came from 47, 45, 43, and 27 yards out. Amazingly, Oberkrom’s 22 points aren’t a career best, or even his best against Texas Tech; as a freshman in 2012, he scored 23 against the Red Raiders as part of a 6-for-6 day. This season, his 83 points are tied for the second most in the nation by a kicker.

The Lou Groza Award will be presented as part of the ESPN Home Depot College Football Awards in Orlando, Fla. on Thursday, December 11th. The three finalists will be honored at the 23rd Annual Lou Groza Awards Banquet on Tuesday, December 9th at the Kravis Center in West Palm Beach, Fla.
