Palm Beach County High School Award Winners

WEST PALM BEACH- Last night at the 15th Annual Lou Groza Collegiate Place-Kicker Award Banquet the winners for Palm Beach County high school coach, place-kicker, and player of the year were announced. The winners were Eric Patterson of Royal Palm Beach Community High School winning coach of the year honors, Salvatore DiMauro of Boca Raton Community High School winning place-kicker of the year, and Brandon Pendergrass of Royal Palm Beach Community High School taking home the player of the year award.

Winners for these awards were chosen by Palm Beach County high school head football coaches and Palm Beach County media representatives. A check for $1,000 is presented to the athletic department of each of the winning schools.

In winning the coach of the year award, Coach Eric Patterson helped lead Royal Palm Beach to a 10-2 record, district championship, and a spot in the state playoffs. His team reached the Regional Finals before losing to Boone High School of Orlando. Patterson’s team did this by mixing a strong rushing attack, which earned over 2,700 yards in the regular season, with a strong passing attack that earned over 1,100 yards in the regular season. Coach Patterson was also selected to coach at the Outback High School All-Star Bowl in December.

Winning the honors of Palm Beach County place-kicker of the year was Boca Raton Community High School senior, Salvatore DiMauro. DiMauro is currently rated the 5th best kicker in the country by Scout.com. On the season he was 5 of 9 in field goals with 3 of his misses coming on field goals from over 50-yards. His longest field goal of the year came when he connected on a 49-yard field goal.

Senior running back Brandon Pendergrass, Royal Palm Beach Community High School, earned Palm Beach County player of the year honors after an impressive season. During the regular season he rushed for over 1,220 yards while also compiling 240 yards receiving. Pendergrass was the team leader in touchdowns with 18 on the season. Next year the Royal Palm Beach star will play football at Wake Forest University.
