Lou
Groza Award Stars of the Week
WEST PALM BEACH, FL – Jason Giannini of Minnesota, Sergia Aguayo of UNLV, and Joey Bullen of Navy are this week’s Lou Groza Collegiate Place-Kicker Award Top Three Stars of the Week.
Jason Giannini made a 30-yard field goal with a second remaining to help the Gophers to a 23-20 victory over Michigan. Gianni also connected on two extra points and additional field goals at 29 and 26 yards. The performance also earned him Big Ten Conference Special Teams Player of the Week. For the year, Giannini has made 10 of 12 field goal attempts and ranks second in the Big Ten in field goal percentage at 83.3 percent.
Sergia Aguayo hit two 52-yard field goals in the fourth quarter of UNLV’s game against San Diego State to win the game for UNLV. His last attempt was made with only nine seconds left on the clock.
Joey Bullen kicked a 46-yard field goal with only 0.4 seconds left on the clock to cap a stunning comeback in the Navy game against rival Air Force. Bullen was also connected on a 20-yard field goal in the third quarter and had three extra point attempts in the game.

The 2005 winner
of the Lou Groza Collegiate Place-Kicker Award is presented
by the FedEx Orange Bowl and is announced on Thursday, December
8, 2005 during the ESPN Home Depot College Football Award
Show in Orlando, Florida. The top three finalists for the
Lou Groza Collegiate Place-Kicker Award are honored during
the Lou Groza Collegiate Place-Kicker Award Banquet and
Silent Auction on Tuesday, December 6, 2005, at the Palm
Beach Gardens Marriott. This is an event of the Palm Beach
County Sports Institute.
All Division
I-A kickers are eligible for the Award named for NFL Hall-of-Fame
Kicker Lou "The Toe" Groza. Voters for the award
include Division I-A head coaches, sports writers and sportscasters,
conference representatives, professional kickers, and previous
Groza Award finalists.
The Lou Groza Award is also sponsored by BankAtlantic, The
