Jose Martinez of UTEP is tied with two others for the longest field goal of the season. He booted a 57 yarder against the University of Houston. The strong legged junior also has field goals of 51, 45 and 42 yards this season. He has connected on 15 of his 18 field goal tries, making 83.3 percent. Martinez has been perfect on all 42 of his PAT tries. Martinez has battled back from injury, missing spring football drills as he recovered from a severe ACL injury
Austin Starr, Indiana University

Austin Starr of the University of Indiana connected on a 49 yard field goal this past Saturday to give the Hoosiers a 27-24 victory over arch rival Purdue. Starr has made 19 of his 21 field goal tries for a 90.5 percentage. He has two 49 yard field goals and one from 48 yards. He has also connected on all 45 of his PAT attempts. The Junior from Logansport, Indiana is a biology major and has been an All Big Ten Academic selection. His 102 points is tied for fifth in the nation in kick scoring.
Thomas Weber, Arizona State University

Thomas Weber of Arizona State has connected on 95% of his field goals so far this season. He has made 19 of 20 tries, second in the nation among kickers with 10 attempts. His season long came against UCLA when he connected on a 53 yarder in the Sun Devils 24-20 victory. He has been a major contributor to the Sun Devils 5-1 record in the PAC 10 with two games in which he was a perfect 3 for 3 and he was 4 for 4 in ASU’s defeat of Stanford. Weber is majoring in Kinesiology and is contemplating a career in Physical Therapy.
