College football’s top kicking award, the Palm Beach County Sports Commission Lou Groza Collegiate Place-Kicker Award presented by the Orange Bowl recognizes three of the top kickers each week from FBS division teams as the “Stars of the Week.”

The Lou Groza Award will be presented as part of the ESPN Home Depot College Football Awards in Atlanta, GA on Thursday, December 10th. The three finalists will be honored at the 24th Annual Lou Groza Awards Banquet on Monday, December 7 at the Palm Beach County Convention Center in West Palm Beach, FL. For more information on the Lou Groza Award and the Palm Beach County Sports Commission visit www.LouGrozaAward.com.

In a rivalry known for kicking miscues and close games, the 60th meeting of Florida State and Miami was once again decided by just a few points, magnifying the importance of Roberto Aguayo’s 11-point performance in the Seminoles’ 29-24 victory in Tallahassee on Saturday night. The 2013 Lou Groza Award winner, Aguayo made field goals from 32, 25, and 22 yards out, maintaining his career-long streak of perfection within 40 yards. The junior from Mascotte, Florida added two extra points to move to an immaculate 169-for-169 in his career.

For the second straight time, Duke’s Ross Martin earns “Stars of the Week” honors, but that should be expected as he continues his perfect season. The senior from Solon, Ohio notched his third 3-for-3 field goal performance on the year in Duke’s 44-3 win over Army in West Point on Saturday. This time around, Martin connected from 40 yards and twice from 25, while going 5-for-5 on extra points. He’s now 12-for-12 on field goals this season and 19-for-19 on extra points, the only kicker with double-digit field goals to remain perfect this year.

Utah is the lone unbeaten team in the Pac-12, with kicker Andy Phillips scoring all of the Utes’ second half points in a 30-24 win over California in Salt Lake City on Saturday night. The two-time Groza semifinalist kept Utah’s top-5 season in tact with field goals from 39 and 35 in the second half, after opening the scoring with a 44 yarder. The junior from Draper, Utah added three extra points for a 12-point day. Phillips now has 47 points on the year, the most of any Utah player.
