College football’s top kicking award, the Lou Groza Collegiate Place Kicker Award sponsored by the Palm Beach County Sports Commission recognizes three of the top kickers each week from FBS division (Div 1A) teams as the “Stars of the Week”.

Texas A&M senior Taylor Bertolet showed one of the strongest legs in college football with a career-long 55-yard field goal in the Aggies’ 30-17 defeat of Mississippi State in College Station, Texas on Saturday. That was the longest field goal by an Aggie kicker since 1999, the third longest make in FBS this season, and the third long-range kick of his career. The Reading, PA native also connected from 30 and 24 yards and added three extra points.  He is 9 of 11 on field goals this season and his 47 points lead all Texas A&M players.

Three field goals by two-time Lou Groza Award semifinalist Ross Martin were all Duke needed in their 9-6 defeat of Boston College in Durham, NC on Saturday. The senior from Solon, Ohio continued his flawless season by connecting from 36, 38 and a career-best 53-yard field goal into the wind. He leads all kickers who have yet to miss a kick this season, improving to 9-for-9 on field goals and 14-for-14 on PATs. Already Duke’s all-time leading scorer, his 351 career points are now sixth most in ACC history.

Freshman kicker Austin Seibert contributed 14 points to Oklahoma’s 44-24 defeat of West Virginia in their Big 12 opener in Norman, OK on Saturday. It was a career-best day for the Belleville, IL native who made field goals of 25, 40 and a career-long 44 yards. He was perfect on five extra point attempts and has yet to miss either a field goal or extra point try this season. His 42 points lead all Oklahoma scorers. Seibert does double duty for the Sooners, also recording a career-best 58-yard punt.
