The Lou Groza Award will be presented as part of the ESPN Home Depot College Football Awards in Atlanta, GA on Thursday, December 10th. The three finalists will be honored at the 24th Annual Lou Groza Awards Banquet on Monday, December 7 at the Palm Beach County Convention Center in West Palm Beach, FL. Miami kicker Michael Badgley’s nine points were crucial to the Hurricanes’ 27-21 defeat of Virginia in ACC action in Miami Gardens on Saturday. The sophomore from Summit, N.J., made a 28-yard third quarter field goal to put UM ahead and then a 39 yarder in the fourth quarter to help ensure the win. He added three extra points. The victory kept the Canes’ hopes for a berth in the ACC championship game alive. Badgley moved into the FBS lead with 19 made field goals and his 85 points lead the team in scoring.

Auburn sophomore Daniel Carlson kicked four field goals for the second consecutive game as the Tigers snapped a two game losing streak and defeated #19 Texas A&M 26-10 in College Station, TX on Saturday. The Colorado Springs, Colo., native scored all of Auburn’s second half points with makes of 35, 30, 21, and 31 yards. He also made two extra point attempts in the first half for a 14-point game and move his career-long PAT streak to 83. He is second in FBS with 18 field goals made and his 80 points this season lead the team in scoring.

Junior kicker Andy Phillips’ 10-point day helped Utah to a 34-23 defeat of Washington in Seattle on Saturday and kept the 8-1 Utes in first place in the Pac-12 South. His two field goals give him 55 for his career which is second in school history. The Draper, Utah native connected from 43 and 36 yards and went 4 for 4 on extra point tries. One of just two active kickers to earn Groza semifinalist honors in three consecutive seasons, Phillips is 15-for-19 on field goals and has made all 37 extra point attempts for a team-leading 82 points.
