College football’s top kicking award, the Lou Groza Collegiate Place-Kicker Award sponsored by the Palm Beach County Sports Commission recognizes three of the top kickers each week from FBS division teams as the "Stars of the Week."  This week the performances of three of the twenty semi-finalists are highlighted.

Senior kicker Randy Bullock broke the Texas A&M career scoring record when he kicked three field goals and tacked on five extra points in the Aggies' 53-50 overtime loss to Kansas State in Manhattan on Saturday night.  The Klein, Texas native connected from 42, 20 and 17 yards.  He now has 103 points on the season, second-most in the nation amongst kickers, and became the Aggies' all-time career scoring leader with 326 points.  Bullock has made 20 of his 24 field goal attempts this season and is tied for the national lead in field goals made.

Florida State junior Dustin Hopkins moved into a tie for fourth place in the nation in field goals made when he connected from 38, 37 and 21 yards in the Seminoles' 23-19 victory over the Miami Hurricanes in Tallahassee on Saturday.  The Houston, Texas native is 18-of-21 on the season and his 85.7 percentage puts him in the top ten nationally.  He added two PATs and has not missed any of his 40 extra point tries this season.  His 94 points lead the Seminoles in scoring and with 310 career points, he is fifth all-time at Florida State, just behind two-time Lou Groza Award winner Sebastian Janikowski.

Quinn Sharp added twelve points to his national lead in kick-scoring with a 37-yard field goal and nine extra points in Oklahoma State’s lopsided 66-6 victory over Texas Tech in Lubbock on Saturday.  The junior from Mansfield, Texas has 113 points on the season, having made 16 of his 18 field goal tries and 65 of 66 extra point attempts.  His 88.9 field goal percentage is fourth in the nation and his 65 extra points rank second.   He is second in scoring for a Cowboys' offense that averages better than 51 points per game.

The presentation of the Lou Groza Award will be featured on The Home Depot College Football Awards live on Thursday, Dec. 8, at 9 p.m. ET on ESPN.  The show, hosted by ESPN’s Chris Fowler, Lee Corso, Kirk Herbstreit and Desmond Howard will feature the live presentation of nine player awards, along with the recipients of Disney’s Spirit Award; The Home Depot Coach of the Year Award, the NCFAA (National College Football Awards Association) Contributions to College Football Award; and student-athletes selected to the Walter Camp All-America Team.  Fans can visit the show’s dedicated Web site at www.espncollegefootballawards.com to find the latest college football awards news, including show details, previous winners, fan voting, a photo gallery and video highlights.
